From Campus Asia 6 to Tsukuba Short-term Study Program:
Learning, Research, and Sustainability

Participating in the Campus Asia 6 (CA6) program at the University of Tsukuba in 2022 was a transformative experience that broadened my academic perspective. As a Ph.D. student and an educator teaching pre-service teachers, I had the opportunity to explore diverse teaching methodologies and educational philosophies through discussions and exchanges with students from different backgrounds. Seeing how educational practices vary across cultures helped me reflect on my own teaching and research, allowing me to adopt a more inclusive and comprehensive approach.

Moreover, one of the most impactful aspects of CA6 was its emphasis on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Engaging with these topics allowed me to understand how education and research can be powerful tools in addressing global challenges. Through discussions, case studies, fieldwork, and collaborative activities, I developed a broader perspective on sustainability, whether in terms of education, environmental responsibility, social equity, or economic development. This experience reshaped my approach to research and teaching, making me more conscious of how my work could contribute to long-term, meaningful change. It also reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-cultural dialogue, both of which are essential for tackling sustainability issues effectively.

Inspired by my experiences in CA6, I decided to continue my learning journey through the Tsukuba Short-term Study Program (TSSP) in 2024. This program provided me with an opportunity to further develop my research skills by working alongside highly experienced professors. Their guidance helped me refine my research framework and gain hands-on experience in writing research articles. Additionally, I had the chance to observe and learn from student exchange program coordinators, which gave me a clearer understanding of how international exchange programs are managed and how students are supported throughout their academic journey. This behind-the-scenes perspective was invaluable in helping me appreciate the effort and coordination required to create meaningful academic exchanges.

Being part of both CA6 and TSSP has had a profound impact on my academic and professional growth. These experiences have not only enhanced my research capabilities but also strengthened my ability to work in diverse academic environments. Moving forward, I aim to apply the knowledge and perspectives I have gained on SDGs and international academic exchange to my teaching, research, and student mentorship. My goal is to create meaningful learning experiences that prepare students to engage with global challenges and contribute positively to both themselves and society.
